Church of the Ascension

Children & Youth

At Church of the Ascension, children and youth are an integral part of the life of the parish. We seek to support families as they nurture faith at home and in community, and to offer spaces where young people can explore scripture, prayer, and the life of the Church in age-appropriate ways.

Nursery care

is available 9:30-11:10am and during special events for younger children.

Children

Children are welcome in Sunday worship. Families may sit together, and quiet activity is always acceptable.

Sunday School

Sunday School is offered during the program year for elementary-aged children. Classes engage the stories of the Bible, the seasons of the Church year, and the practices of Christian life through age-appropriate teaching and conversation.

Youth Participation

Older children and youth are invited to take part in the worshipping life of the parish through ministries such as acolytes and choristers. Periodic gatherings and service opportunities provide additional space for building friendships, learning together, and growing in faith.

Family Gatherings and Special Events

Throughout the year, Ascension offers occasional services, seasonal events, and parish gatherings that bring families together for worship, fellowship, and celebration. For more information about children and youth ministries, please contact Megan Bartsch, or the parish office.

Ascension Choristers

Children and youth in grades 2 through 12 are invited to join the chorister program, which forms young singers in both musical skill and the practice of worship.  Choristers receive age-appropriate instruction in vocal technique, sight-singing, and musicianship, and sing regularly in Sunday services. Rehearsals take place on Sundays from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. No previous musical experience is required.

For more information about the chorister program, please contact music@ascensionseattle.org or speak with Music Director David Boeckh
