The Ascension Choir is an adult ensemble that sings at Sunday services and major feasts. The choir’s repertoire reflects the breadth of the Anglican tradition, from early polyphony to sacred music of the 21st century. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Singers of varying experience are welcome. Commitment, reliability, and a desire to grow as a musician are central to the life of the choir.
Those interested are encouraged to contact music@ascensionseattle.org or speak with Music Director David Boeckh.
Children and youth in grades 2 through 12 are invited to join the chorister program, which forms young singers in both musical skill and the practice of worship. Choristers receive age-appropriate instruction in vocal technique, sight-singing, and musicianship, and sing regularly in Sunday services. Rehearsals take place on Sundays from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. No previous musical experience is required.
For more information about the chorister program, please contact music@ascensionseattle.org or speak with Music Director David Boeckh.
Several times each year, Ascension offers Choral Evensong and other special services in which music plays a central role. These liturgies, rooted in the Anglican tradition, bring together psalms, scripture, and choral music for an evening of contemplative prayer.
The parish is home to a tracker organ built by Paul Fritts & Company of Tacoma, Washington. The instrument is modeled on historic European organs and is known for its clarity of tone and responsiveness. It supports congregational song, accompanies the choir, and is integral to our worship.
Ascension is proud to host musical events, both from our talented parishioners, as well as community performances. Pictured here is a Northwest Boychoir show.
