Time and Talent

Everything we have is a gift from God. All good things are gifts from God (1 Timothy 6:17). Food and clothing (Matthew 6:25, 33), rain and fruitful harvests (Leviticus 26:4), faith (Ephesians 2:8), grace (James 4:6), wisdom (Proverbs 2:6, James 1:5), and life itself (Isaiah 42:5) are all gifts from God.

The essence of the Christian life is a relationship with God shown by regular prayer and worship that fosters love of God and neighbor. God has given each of us important spiritual gifts and practical talents for those purposes. No matter how great or small our talents, abilities and wealth, we are called to put them to good use. Find a creative use for your own special talent!

Each of us has something to give. We can give our money and our time to charity, be a friend to someone who is sick or lonely, do volunteer work, or be a peacemaker, or teacher. We may give unselfishly of our time to our spouse, children or parents. We may choose a service-oriented occupation, or we may just do our everyday jobs with integrity and respect for others.

There are many ways to give of yourself for God through the community life and ministry of Ascension. For more information, check out our ministries and call the office to speak to the Rector 206-283-3967.

Giving of your “treasure” is an important component of a balanced spiritual life. “For where your treasure is there your heart shall be also” (Matthew 6:21). Returning to God from that which God has given us is a tangible way to express our faith. When each of us gives as we are able, together we provide the financial means for fulfilling Ascension’s mission to follow Christ, to develop & deepen our faith, and to love & serve our neighbors – in the local community, the nation and the world.

To support our ongoing mission, you may make a financial pledge online (recurring or one-time) by clicking the “GIVE” button below, or by calling the church office. You may also contribute to the future of our mission by making a legacy gift through remembering Ascension in your will. What is Pledging?

A pledge is a statement of intent to give. Your pledge amount may be changed, increased or decreased during the year, at any time as your financial circumstances change.

Pledging is a spiritual practice that acknowledges your relationship of gratefulness to God. When you plan ahead for your giving, you make conscious choices about spending your money in ways that reflect your faith and values. Receiving your pledge allows our Vestry, the church’s governing board, to do for our parish community what you do for your household: plan wisely for the use our resources in support of the mission and ministry to which God has called us. The Vestry sets a budget based on the total amount pledged to the church. While plate offerings are important to the parish, your pledge lets the Vestry plan more accurately for the ministry we can accomplish.
